Zines carry this lineage of resistance, care, and creativity. They are intentionally imperfect, accessible, and intimate. It is art you can hold, share, and make without needing any permission, skill or specific resources.

While the term “zine” rose to prominence in mid-20th century sci-fi fandom and later punk, feminist, and queer movements, their roots stretch deeper. From the independent magazines of the Harlem Renaissance, to political pamphlets, to chapbooks passed hand-to-hand — communities have always created their own media when dominant systems refused them space.
