Creativity for systems change - podcast feature

I was invited to the Philosophers Corner Podcast to chat all things creative - personal, communal and collective. It was such a beautiful conversation, as I had an opportunity to really speak about what it is that I am doing, and what I am visioning for myself and the for the communities I serve.

I have claimed the identity of an artist, and my belief is that all of us are inherently artists too. It has taken me my whole adult life to re-connect with this identity, because I had to really strip away all the stories that drove me to feeling like I needed to only exist in behind the scenes (this archetype of the ‘shadow artist’ is referenced in The Artist Way).

Yet, I have arrived to some clarity on my journey, and if you are familiar with the work I do - you will perhaps notice that I love to work with paper, because what I tend to focus on is the process. This is purely a way of identifying with the efforts, feelings, intentions and reflections that come up whilst doing any sort of art making. I call it my excavation process, and that to me is what makes me an artist.
